01 · Context

Tamara was already transforming students.
The tool was missing.

Tamara Teixeira is a teacher and a leading mentor in medical residency preparation, with an established method and thousands of students. Her operational work lived in Notion templates, spreadsheets and messages — functional, but cold, generic and with no retention.

The brief asked for a platform the student would open twice a day: in the morning to know what to study, at night to log what she did. A tool that "felt like her home", not the company's.

02 · Problem

What existed did not fit.

Notion has a learning curve

Templates work, but the student gets lost in the setup and drops out before seeing any value.

Locked platforms

They only exist inside R$ 2k–3k mentorships. No standalone option, no flexibility.

Cold, impersonal voice

They reflect the company, not the student. No gamification, no warmth, no emotional payoff.

No smart review

Almost none of them calculate automatically when to review based on the student's own metrics.

03 · Audience

Someone studying 2h a day
deserves to feel at home.

80%WomenMost of the audience is female, between 23 and 33.
3PersonasMedical students, civil service candidates and university applicants.
2×Daily useBefore and after studying — success measured in recurrence.
R$ 2–3kCompetitionExisting platforms only come bundled with expensive mentorships.

04 · Strategy

Four decisions
that drove everything.

Automatic review

The platform calculates when to review based on hours studied, questions and correct answers — the student never has to think about it.

Light gamification

Duolingo-style streaks and achievements, but without infantilising — celebrating real milestones, not cosmetic ones.

Flexible calendar

Clear forward planning with room to adjust — because life gets in the way.

A warm voice

First-person microcopy, no jargon. The student opens the app and feels that someone understands her routine.

06 · Wireflow

How the student moves.

Mapping the critical flows: onboarding, daily study logging, automatic review management and progress visualisation. Every decision validated with Tamara before high fidelity.

07 · Mobile prototype

Mobile-first, always.

Where the student actually lives — between residency shifts, in the coffee queue, before bed. Generous typography, clear hierarchy, fast gestures.

08 · Tablet prototype

For the long study session.

On tablet, the student opens PDFs, ticks off tasks and follows the calendar side by side. The layout uses the screen without inflating components — adaptation, not stretching.

09 · Key decisions

Five trade-offs that matter.

01

Metrics as ritual, not judgement

The student chooses to log at the end of a session — a 3-tap flow. No aggressive badges; the reinforcement comes from the clarity of the numbers, not the weight of guilt.

02

Calculated reviews, adjustable

The algorithm generates dates using spaced repetition, factoring in correct answers and time since the last study. The student can drag and reorder — control stays with her.

03

Onboarding as a contract

In 4 steps the student sets the exam, the board and the weeks remaining. The app never asks again — every recommendation comes from that context.

04

First-person microcopy

No 'user', no 'system'. The interface says 'your week', 'today you review…' — because cold tools kill consistency.

05

Gamification without infantilising

Discreet streaks, half-yearly achievements, and celebrations on dates that matter (board announced, exam week). No mascot bouncing around.
